About the event

Irish Culture Club of Delaware hosts our 49th Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade on Saturday, March 14th.  The Parade processes up King Street from 5th, past Rodney Square's Reviewing Stand, finishing at St. Patrick's Church at 15th Street.  Our post-Parade Hooley is in the Lot adjoining St. Patrick's Church and St. Patrick's Center.

This year, our Grand Marshal is ICCD's own Nora Smith. Nora Theresa Smith was born on October 13, 1953, in Philadelphia to Arthur N. Grenier and Nora Theresa Grenier (née McGoldrick). Raised with strong family values and a deep appreciation for her Irish heritage, Nora carried those traditions proudly throughout her life.

For 50 years, Nora has been the devoted wife of Daniel T. Smith. Together they built a loving and faith-filled home, raising eight children and later welcoming thirteen cherished grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Family has always been at the heart of Nora’s life, and she is known for her unwavering support, warmth, and dedication to those she loves.

For 44 years, Nora has been a faithful member of Holy Rosary Parish in Claymont, where her strong faith has guided her service and community involvement.

Nora’s commitment to preserving and celebrating Irish heritage is especially evident through her more than 30 years of dedicated service to the Irish Culture Club of Delaware. Throughout her time with the ICCD, she has worked tirelessly in support of numerous sponsored events. Most notably, she has served as Chairperson of the ICCD-sponsored Delaware Feis and Festival, playing a central role in organizing and sustaining this beloved cultural celebration.

Her generous spirit and leadership have also benefited many other ICCD activities, including the Annual Children’s Christmas Party, Adult Christmas Dinner, St. Patrick’s Day Dinners, the Scholarship Committee, and the Sunshine Committee. She has further served the organization as a Board Member and Secretary, offering steady guidance and dedication.

In recognition of her many years of service to the Irish Culture Club of Delaware and her steadfast commitment to promoting Irish culture, Nora Theresa Smith is an ideal and deserving choice to serve as Grand Marshal for the 2026 ICCD Saint Patrick’s Day Parade.

Through her devotion to family, faith, and heritage, Nora exemplifies a life of service, leadership, and love, leaving a lasting legacy in her community and beyond.
